I ordered some presents from Babies R'Us online for my cousin to be delivered will she know the price?

Q. Obviously the billing address was where I live, and the shipping address was at my cousins house. I even had it gift wrapped, will any of the price tags be there? Or the invoice? Also, she lives in some apartments, will they have a hard time to get in?

A. Hee hee! Congrats to your cousin and don't worry. They are gifts, BabyR'Us handles this sort of thing really well. As for the apartment, UPS and the postal service usually leave a note that a package needs to be picked up at their location if the deliveree (your cousin) isn't home.

Are there any job opportunities available for a 14 year old?
Q. I know there are always jobs like baby-sitting and lawn mowing, but I was wondering if there were any places that would consider hiring a 14 year old (fifteen in two months). Also, are there any places that don't check your SSN before hiring?

A. Hello!
I am also 14 looking for a job, first off, here some places you can scratch off your list (if you have one):

Burlington
Ross
Payless
Toys R Us
Target

I've tried those already and they all said "No". Although, Baskin Robins does hire at 14, depending on location. I know that from experience. But at most Baskin Robins you must be 15. And to work at any place that sells food, you need a Food Handlers License, but to work ANYWHERE you first need a Work Permit, which you can apply for though I'm not sure how much that costs. You could also work at Fred Meyer's or Safeway or Albertson's as a grocery bagger, but nothing more than that.

This website here can help you too! It's run by the government so it has some pretty useful information:
http://www.youthrules.dol.gov/jobs.htm

They list all the kinds of jobs 14-15 year olds can get, though they don't name specific places, I think it will help you out (because it's helping me).

Good luck! Oh, and remember, the economy right now isn't at its best, so it may take a while to find a good job, especially at your age.

What retail store can I buy baby memory books?
Q. I'm looking for a baby book that has pages for a family tree, the baby's specifics like birth place and location, height, weight, eye color, place to put baby's first hand prints, and also like a photo album to store baby pictures. Is it called a baby memory book?? Or is it called something else??

I'd like to know what stores carry these. I would like to be able to look at the books in person before I buy. I know online sells them, but I can't see inside of the actual book

A. I'm looking too! Some retail shops that carry them are Walmart, Target, Kohls, Sears, Kmart, and Babies R Us. I heard that Ross and Burlington sometimes carry them too. You could also try Hallmark stores. I am shopping online as I'm overseas & local shops near me have a limited selection and some are packaged so I couldn't look through them. I found the online store "BabySakes": http://www.baby-memory-books.com/Default.asp great because they have a huge variety & list in detail what pages are included (ie: Mother's details, father's details, family tree, space for prints, etc) & sometimes there are pictures of inside. Some reviews on Amazon also list page details. Maybe it's just me being picky but as it will be something I will pass on, I'm trying to find just the right one so something I realized when baby memory book hunting is to consider what kind of binding in a book to look for such as bound/tightbound, postbound, looseleaf (3 ring binder), & others. If you want to add or remove pages or add keepsakes, then the postbound and loose-leaf could be good books since they expand. Some nice baby memory book brands I've found so far are the Carter's, C.R Gibson, Pearhead Babyprints, Penny Laine, and Pepperpot books because these allow someone to personalize them by adding pictures/details of their own baby on the cover & inside. Some of the retail shops above carry these. Good luck with your search! (Sorry for such a long response!)

How long did your child ride rear facing?

Q. Were you anxious to get them turned around? Also, are cheaper Walmart car seats (like the $40 Evenflo ones) any less safe than the expensive Babies R Us ones?
Thanks Mrs.G... that was very helpful.

A. I work for NYS as a Child Passenger Safety certified technician and instructor. I travel throughout the state and have seen so many families with so many different choices of car seats.

It is a known fact that everyone is safer rear facing, even adults. That being said, it is just not how we do things. It is best to keep your baby rear facing as long as possible, but you should also abide by the information provided for your specific seat.

To answer your question, my 18 month old and my 3 1/2 year old still both ride rear facing in their Sunshine Kids Radian 80s. We chose these seats specifically because of the rear facing guidelines. They may ride rear facing up to 45 pounds or until the top of their ears reach the top of the shell. Luckily, these car seats have a high shell.

I will let them ride this way until they reach either of those guidelines. It is safer for my children and I want to do what's best for them. A common mistake I see a lot of parents make is buying into the theory that if a child's feet reach the seat or need to be bent, they should face forward. This is wrong, as you should always try to keep them rear facing as long as possible. Even if you are switching from an infant seat to a convertible, you should let your child ride rear facing in the convertible as long as its limits allow.

Evenflo car seats are not necessarily a bad choice for your child. Any new car seat has passed federal safety guidelines, or it would not be on the market. The main difference being, is that some car seats just have more "ease of use" features than others. For example, I know that the Evenflo seats require the carry handles to be down when in use in the vehicle. This can be a problem for compatibility with some vehicles, especially small cars. The Chicco infant seat, on the other hand, allows you to use the seat with the handle up. Also, I know that the Chicco and Britax infant seats have leveling bubbles to help you judge the proper angle for your seat, which I have yet to see on a less expensive model (not that it's a bad thing). This just takes the guess work out of finding the perfect angle for your base. My only recommendation, if you're going to use a car seat without these added features, would be to definitely take the time to have it installed professionally by either your police station or a car seat safety inspection. These seats can be just as safe as the more expensive ones, provided they are installed correctly.

Ultimately, the safest seat is the on that fits your child and your vehicle. It is not always the top-rated seat on consumer reports as these are often rated by ease of use features instead of completely focusing on safety. If your baby is already born when you are buying the seat, you can take them somewhere that lets you test out the seats before buying. I know many Babies R Us locations will actually let you have your child sit in the seat in store.

Happy Shopping :)

Some great infant seats that allow an extension of riding rear facing include:
Chicco Keyfit 30
Britax Companion
Graco Snugride 32/35

Some great convertible seats for this purpose are:
Sunshine Kids Radian 65/80
Britax Marathon (actually, many of the Britax models)
Graco MyRide 65

Best place to buy online inexpensive but good quality girls newborn baby clothing?
Q. Besides Target (I think I already bought all their cute girls items lol)

I live in a rural area and all we close that is close by to shop for baby is Target, Walmart, and Babies R Us so I tend to prefer to shop online and would love to hear some Websites you have shopped at before and trust.
I am looking to buy lots of girls newborn to 6 months warm footsie outfits since baby is coming in January it will be cold!

Thanks so much in advance!!

A. You can buy Baby Girls (0-24 Months) clothes from http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FGirls-Infants-Toddlers-Kids-Baby%2Fb%3Fie%3DUTF8%26node%3D1044512%26no%3D1040662%26ref%255F%3Dsc%255Fbm%255Fbr%255F1040662%255F10%255Fmo%255F18%26me%3DATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=189-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

Where in Omaha, Ne are the best places to shop for a baby on the way?
Q. I know there is a Babies-R-Us, what else is there, and are there any good prices out there? We're needing all the essentials!

A. What is your price range you are looking for? The reason i ask is because there is Wal-Mart, Kmart(if still in omaha), Shopko, BabiesRus, Nebraska Furniture Mart..If you want high end which will cost you more, is Kids Stuff Superstore. I used to work at the location in Lincoln. Quit when i moved here to Kentucky. Their cribs can range from $100 all the way up to about $700. The prices are higher there because of the woods and stuff used. At Kids Stuff, its like a one stop shop for the baby. Everything from cribs, dressers, bedding, mattresses, carseats, strollers, ...you name it i am for sure we had it. Email me if you would like more information. I can give you some names of who you can talk to that would be very helpful. The only downside to KS is the price, but sometimes waiting about 6-8 weeks for orders. But i will tell you it is worth the wait! So yea just email me if you have any questions! Even though i am no longer working with Kids Stuff, I still recommend them to everyone i know!

Where are places I can find cute baby clothes?

Q. My daughter is 6 weeks, but got into newborn sizes about a week or so ago.Where are some places I can find things really cute in these..these are the sites I have tried

Walmart
Target
Children's place
JC Penney
Sears
Macy's
Babies r us

A. I love going to the Carter's stores. They don't have shopping available on their website but they do have a website. It will give you their nearest location. They have been having half off sales for months now and keep sending me coupons for an additional 10 dollars off any purchase over 50. I love Carter's clothes. Their sizing is awesome and the quality rocks. In 5 years I have had one mishap with an outfit and they refunded me the full purchase price of that outfit.

where can i buy baby shower stuff in san diego california?
Q. I am helping someone organize a baby shower and I am not sure where I can go and buy center pieces, and thank you gifts for the guest. Or if you have an idea on what I can do that would be helpful as well. I have googled it, but google was not very helpful.

A. the burlington coat factory!..
