How can I make my job application look good ?

Q. I've been trying to get a job at toys r us , target, starbucks, baby gap, old-navy and pandera . But how ! ? I know i can qualifications to work at the places but I can't get a job there ? The application online so i want to know how i can improve my job apps. Is it also my availability ? for example i would say 4pm-9pm everyday then saturday and sunday i would put open availability. I'm only 17 and for those job you have to be 17.

A. Call up the company before hand ask who the store manager is and if their hiring, if not would it be fine to leave an application for next recruitment drive. When you go to the store hand it in with a cover letter (dressed casual/smartly) expressing how much you'd love to work for xxx job and what qualities you have gained or have to offer. This cover letter will be sincerely too <<insert store managers name>> have it in an envolope with <<insert store managers name>>

4-9 is only a 5 hour shift and what if the store stays open til 11. Maybe 4 til close would be better. You can also mention why you can only do those hours but how flexible you are. Ask your parents to write the cover letter or make another question so we can offer more help.

How much is a good "desired hourly pay" for a part time job?
Q. I'm applying at Toys R Us and the application asks me what I'd like to be paid hourly. What is a good, accurate number to put down? Please be serious.

A. Minimum wage (7.25/hr)

How often do jobs look at applications that were filled out online?
Q. I took this entire day to fill out a whole bunch of applications online. I applied for starbucks, walgreens, target, toy r us, and subways. Does anyone know how often these websites check online applications, and is it a good idea to print out all applications to the stores that I applied to and take them to the stores personally even if I already applied online?

A. its best to call after and see if they had time to look at ur application. but do it in a respectful way they like to u show initiative

What places will hire you for minimum wage jobs with no experience?
Q. I am 19 and i've never had a job that's legit enough to put down on an application. Does anyone know of some good places that will hire you without experience? I've applied to kmart, target, long john silvers, sheetz, cvs, quaker steak & lube, & toys r us/babies r us. Any suggestions?

A. While you keep trying to get a paying job, enquire about volunteer work with a charity ( you don't get paid) so you can learn a few skills. It always looks good at an interview to say I have been helping out doing charity work, employers think that's great.
Then you will have some experience and you will have been doing some good for others at the same time. A win win situation I'd say.

Where can I find the online Toys R Us online job application that I can print out and fill out?

Q. I live here in Chicago and Toys R Us is hiring and has tons of jobs and needs tons of workers for the holiday season and I want me a job at Toys R Us only thing is when I go to this site
http://www.job-applications.com/toys-r-us-application/
and click on the link that says apply for jobs at toys r us online,a message come up saying the page could not be found.

A. Really? I just clicked the "Apply for Jobs at Toys R Us Online" link and then the "Official Toys R Us Job Application Website" link. It took me right to all the listings. I just clicked Illinois > Chicago and it showed me all the jobs (there are tons).

Try again. perhaps it's a computer issue. maybe your firewall is preventing the page from opening or something. idk.

keep trying, it works for me

Is it okay to fake my age by a few months on my job application to Toys 'R us?
Q. I submitted a job application to Toys R Us and I said my age was 16. I will turn 16 in 3 months! But i'm hoping to start working (if i get accepted) in 2 months and from then on.

If they find out will they fire me? Or will they continue to try to work with me even though I am only 15 1/2?

A. If you want to keep the job, you better come clean about your age and hope that your employer will understand that you have learned a lesson and won't lie to Toys R Us again.

But even if 'they' don't care is it OK or not to lie? Maybe the answer is Yes and No. Maybe it depends on whose standards you use to answer the question. Lots of people wouldn't care less what you did, but maybe your standards are higher than theirs? Maybe your integrity and your word is a weighty issue and maybe it's important for you to be honest and upright even when, especially when, no one is watching. How do you feel about this?

When will Toys R Us start calling people that went online and filled out a job application to come in to the?
Q. store they wanna work at so they can be interviewed.

We are only a couple of weeks away from Black Friday and I wanna know when will Toys R us start contacting those people who meet all the job requirements for the job position they filled out the online job application for.

How long do we have to wait

A. You think employers call every person who applies for a job? You must be new to this whole "job hunt" thing, huh.

Should summit my social security for this online application to Toys R US?
Q. I want to apply for a job at a Toys R us near my house and in the application, it requires me to input my social security. Is it safe to do?
It has a lock on the bottom corner meaning its secure.

A. Please state your Op system when asking Q's.

the lock indicates a very good security when it is activated. e.g banks use it all the time without problem. There should be a lock in the right of the address bar that is put there when Windows? sees that it is on a secure site.
To be sure type the toysRUS address into the address bar fresh and start over from there to make sure you are not on a 'phishing' site.Of course, ensure that you computer has a fire wall on and virus checker up to date and run. Also a BOT check e.g (free) spybot prog. All the best.

when should i expect a reply for my online job application?
Q. i applied for a job at toys r us like 1 month ago and i still have not recieved a reply. When should i kno whether i got the job or not, summer is coming soon.

A. generally(not always) applying for a job on-line is a waste of time unless you are applying for a corporate or management position.

applying on-line for national retailers(chains) and food service type service positions are best done at the location you would like to work. by the time the actual location that is hiring gets an on-line application forwarded from a corporate site the positions are usually filled. there are more then enough applicants walking in the front door to staff most businesses.

there are those situations where there is a shortage of local talent to hire from but that is rare. some businesses that are franchisee owned may have their own web-site that is not associated with the parent company again that is rare.

applying for a corporate position or if the prospective employer is in another city and are actively recruiting state or nation wide then applying on-line is appropriate and advantageous.

What should I put for this part of an application?
Q. I'm filling out a job application for Toys R Us and in this one area it says:
"Desired Hourly Rate of Pay (enter dollars and cents without the '$' sign, eg., 0.00)"
____________

I really don't care how much I get paid. And I don't know what amount of money I should put.

Thanks=)

A. Start pay at the toys r us that I work at is $7.65. Doesn't really matter what you put in there because it won't make a difference on what they pay you. You will get what everybody else gets for a starting pay even if you put you will work for free :)
