Do you have to buy the wii in a bundle?

Q. If you wanna buy the wii do you have to buy it in a bundle? Because when I called a bunch of places they said A) They are are out of stock of the wii and B) they only sell it in a bundle which is like $500-800

I don't want to buy it in a bundle since it's pretty expensive. And also does anyone know where you have get just the wii?

And also if I traded in my gamecube for a $130 giftcare and bought a seperate $120 giftcard could I buy the wii at gamestop?

A. Stores like wall-mart and toys-r-us are taking advantage of the demand for wii and trying to rip off children and fans. My son wanted to buy wii for last Christmas holidays but we were not able to get one (even after spending several hours in queues, my son tried several months calling each and every store we can reach). I am surprised to see how wii is marked, there is so much technology out there why cant the stores sell wii in advance or give priority reservation on internet (by limiting quantities using id etc).

You can notice that Majority of wii are ending up in eBay bidding for more price. My recommendation is not to buy wii and please write to FTC about these greedy corporations trying to bundle up game consoles by adding non relevant (unsuitably rated) games. Wait for some time, PS2 or even Microsoft will come up with better systems with both Graphics and motion sense features.

Ideas for things to make with a nearly 2 year old?
Q. Hi my daughter is nearly two. We paint, draw and colour. I have cut out pictures for us to stick to paper. We have done potato paint stamp too.
Can anyone suggest anything else we can make together please?
Thanks!

A. Here is my suggestions for a simple toddler craft. I have experience! I have 6 children! All of my kids could spend hours doing "crafts" with me. Buy washable markers (go cheap, because they often leave the tops off) Let them color popsicle sticks. You can glue them into a square and put a picture in them, cut out of a magazine, or a photograph. Tie a string on two sides to hang it like a picture. A favorite of my kids 6 down to 1 1/2 yrs. old let them color with a marker on a sheet of paper towel. Paper towels have different, fun prints nowadays. You can even get holiday themes. You probably have a roll on hand. The markers give a soft, watercolor look on the paper towels. Markers color easily, with just a touch for the littlest ones, and the older ones can make designs my marking along the raised texture of the towels. They will get a kick making it look like a quilt. Try it!

Toddler Crafting Macaroni!

Macaroni necklaces, bracelets, anklets. Put straight macaroni in a jar, drop in a few drops of food coloring and shake gently until you get the desired color. You may need to add more food coloring and keep shaking. Make several different colors. Spread on newspaper or papertowels to dry. Put each color into an old butter tub or other plastic container with a lid. Again, provide child with shoestring or yarn with end taped and let her/him make necklaces. This is also a good way to teach sorting and order after a while. In the beginning let him/her string whatever appeals, later you might suggest a pattern.

Web Craft Resource

Please check out theideabox.com. This is the most awesome site I have found for crafts. Not only do they give ages and tools required on each kids craft, but also offer a "craft of the day" and the complete archives are available. I am a homeschooling Mom and use this site a great deal for ideas for my 3 crafters!

Sock Puppets

When my daughter was young she loved to do the same thing as I did (oh, how times have changed now that she is a teenager!). To occupy her while I sewed I gave her a couple of old wool socks, a selection of large buttons (too large to swallow), a plastic needle (purchased in the toy dept) threaded with a length of colorful yarn. As she became more able to work with small articles we added felt pieces too. She turned out many, many puppets and had the benefit of playing with them and giving them to friends as gifts. When she started school the teacher was amazed at her hand co-ordination. And today, she does her own mending! Big bonus!

Take the Styrofoam meat trays cut (big) shapes (smiley faces, Christmas trees, etc.) , color with markers (poke hole if you want to hang anywhere) and put into micro-wave for a few seconds. Voila! Shrinky dinks! Simple and inexpensive crafts for a young child!

Is Toys R Us open on Christmas Day?
Q. I need to do last minute shopping. I was wondering if Toys R Us was open on Christmas day. I was looking at business hours but it said nothing about holidays. Please help.
If the store itself isn't open, is shipping still available? Would it still come in the business days that it requires or longer because of Christmas?

A. I noticed that just the Toys R Us Express shops are open. Not the big stores. Shipping is still available and would come the time that specified.

What are the best things to do in Manhattan ?
Q. I'm going to New york and want to make the most out of my holiday

A. Hi! I suggest the following:

- See High Line Park -- an elevated Park in the Meatpacking District. They also put on free guided walking tours every Saturday.
- Go to the Top of the Rockefeller Center (Top of the Rock) rather than the top of the Empire State. The views are better & the lines are shorter. You can wait up to 3+ hours in the line to get to the top of the Empire, and when you get to the top, the Rockefeller Center blocks the views of Central Park.
- Take a (free) self-guided tour of the New York Public Library. This is where the Sex & the City movie was filmed. Then sit outside at Bryant Park after wards.
- Take a tour of the Brooklyn Brewery - it's free and lots of fun
- Spend a day at FAO Schwartz on Central Park South or Toys R Us in Times square - these two toy stores are HUGE
- Go to the Rose Center for Earth & Space for a show in 3D
- Take a free walking tour: The Village Alliance, http://www.villagealliance.org/ offers free walking tours of Greenwich Village and the Central Park Conservancy http://www.centralparknyc.org/visit/tours/guided-tours/ offers free walking tours of Central Park. You can also take a free tour of the Federal Reserve Bank, which is actually pretty cool
- Go to the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria, Queens - this is the oldest Beer Garden in NYC (100 years old!) It's a pretty easy subway ride from Manhattan. Just take the N or Q trains to Astoria Boulevard. Check out HopStop.com for subway directions. It's like Map Quest for Public Transport.
- Ride the Staten Island Ferry, it's free and lots of fun. You also get great views of the Statue of Liberty.
- Go to Calle Ocho on the Upper West Side for Sunday Brunch (they have unlimited sangria w/purchase of entree).
- Get a burger at Shake Shack (a Danny Meyer burger joint) in Madison Square, hands down NYC's best burger place. The lines tend to be long, but it's definitely worth the wait!
- Sit in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria and bring a coffee. The couches are really comfy and the lobby is spectacular.
- Get a cupcake at Magnolia Bakery
- See Dylan's Candy Store -- opened by Bob Dylan's daughter
- Go to one of NYC's best Rooftop Bars for some awesome views: http://dguides.com/newyorkcity/features/top-10-rooftop-bars/
- Go to the NY Skyride, its the only virtual aerial simulator in NYC
- Take a double decker sightseeing tour of NYC - I know this is kind of cliche, but it's lots of fun
- Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, views are amazing
- Go to Canal Street in Chinatown -- This is where you can find "designer" handbags for $40.

Have fun!

Can my boss make me quit because i want to go on vacation during our busiest hours?

Q. I work at toys r us and my boss says that because december and january are our "peak" time, i have to quit if i want to go on vacation during those times. My vacation is a christmas cruise...

A. This subject is quite complicated and much depends on whether you have a written statement of the terms and conditions of employment, that the correct notice of your request for a holiday is given, that the employer gives the right notice of refusal and whether any agreements regarding holidays exist.
For full details of holiday information in so far as it concerns employment in England check the attached link -
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/employment/holidays_and_holiday_pay.htm#what_your_contract_must_say_about_holidays
If you are still unsure of how this affects you personally, I would recommend making an appointment with your local Citizens Advice Bureau asap.

How quickly will ipod touch 4g sell out on black friday at target?
Q. Oh, and all I have heard about black friday are bad things. Should a fifteen year old go with her mom? How long will 8gb ipod touch supplies last at target? Should we go in the morning or later tonight? I have heard people have died. I'm kinda scared. Some reassuring words would also be helpful. Thanks in advance.

A. A fifteen year old should definitely go with her mom, as it is the busiest few hours of the year. (I went to Wal-mart around 10PM, and it was pandemonium. I left within 20 minutes.) Electronics are especially popular. Target's Black Friday sale started at Midnight. With sales starting earlier and earlier each year (instead of the middle of the night), more people will venture out to the sale. I'm sure this item is gone within the first 5 minutes of the sale.

If you're really interested in getting any Black Friday items, you need to be at the store (in the appropriate department) at least an hour before, if not several hours before hand. [Depending on the item] Best Buy has individuals camping out a few nights in advance. It all depends on how much your time is worth to you.

BTW, Amazon had a Black Friday 'Lightning Deal' on the iPod Touch 8GB at Midnight -- and only from the 'Lightning Deal' page.

I added it to my cart as soon as the sale started, but within ONE MINUTE, all items were sold and I didn't get it. :(

Why? The price was $145(!), which is the best I've seen it anywhere. Even better than the offers Best Buy, Radio Shack, Target, and Toys R Us were offering -- around $190-$199, plus $30-$50 gift cards.

Perhaps your best bet is to visit Apple's site and see what offer they'll make. One site implied the price would be $178, but I can't figure out what time their Black Friday sales starts.

Apple's Black Friday page is currently down -- if you want one you'll need to keep refreshing the page. Hopefully it starts soon, instead of at 5AM-8AM.

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/holiday/shopping_event?aid=www-HomePage-BlackFriday-Teaser

In any event, there's always 'Cyber Monday'. Besides, the current iPod Touch is over a year old. Even if you don't get it, the next generation (hopefully) will be much better, since Apple didn't upgrade the hardware in October.

Yet, for $145 I think I could have lived with it.

What would be a good first real job for a teenager?
Q. I turned 16 a few months ago, and got my license about the same time. I am thinking hard about getting a job after school so i can hopefully get me a fairly nice Silverado/Sierra before i go to college (am a Junior as of now). Anyone have any ideas of something I could look into as an alright after school job?

I know we don't live in the same town, but all towns have a sort of general job selection.

A. Get a seasonal job, companies are hiring now and hiring plent of teens too!

Two industries you can count on to hire extra workers during the holiday season are retailers and restaurants. Party suppliers and holiday decoration centrals, like Party City and Target, and clothing and toy stores, like Old Navy and Toys R Us, all hire seasonal workers. Youll often enjoy store discounts at places like theseand you cant help but get into the holiday spirit when surrounded by wrapping paper and twinkling lights.

With employers hosting holiday parties and visiting friends out for nights on the town, restaurants see booming business during the holiday season. Youre likely to find plenty of hours available for work and enjoy larger tips, as people feel more generous around that time of year.

Youll also find seasonal jobs at hotels and winter attractions (like ski resorts and ice skating rinks). And dont forget the mallSanta could probably use a few extra helpers in his winter wonderland this year.

Companies hiring now nationwide :
Amc Theaters
Jcpenneys
Toys R us
Sears
Macys
Burger King
Good year
Dunkin Donuts
Ski Resorts
Mcdonalds
Pizza hut
Dairy queen
Grocery Stores

All these are great first jobs for a teen, I like hostessing though.

Has anyone ever worked at Toy's R Us during holiday season?
Q. I just was hired to be a part time seasonal employee and wanted to hear/read some other peoples experiences. I was told my hours would vary but would like to know what you experienced while working there....( how many hours, how busy). Thanks in advance

A. Usually no more than 40 a week. But lots of work to do.

Have fun!
