How long is closing cleanup at toys r us?

Q. I just applied at Toys R Us. I was just wondering if anyone knew normally how long closing cleanup is at the end of the night. I know that they close the store at 9 Monday-Saturday and 7 on Sunday, but how long does it take until you actually leave the store. Also, does anyone know what time the store is normally open until for holiday hours?

A. I have worked at TRU since June of 2006 and the best answer i can give regarding closing cleanup is that it totally depends on which manager is closing. Some managers will keep you as late as 945 or 10 oclock but others dont stay past 915. However i would say the average time it takes would be about 30 minutes past closing. And about the holiday hours around late november the store stays open til 10 for about 2 weeks then early december it goes to 12 up until christmas. Hope this answers your questions.

What train do i take to get to Toys R Us in times square?
Q. I live at Queens Village. I would like to know all the trains and directions to get to the Toys R Us in Times Square, because I would like to go to Times Square before Christmas.

A. This Toys R us is at Broadway and West 44th Street.

Queens Village will most likely have you end up at the E or F train, depending on which buses you have easy access to. Take either train, really.

If it's the E, take it to 42nd Street. You can exit at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 8th Avenue, or you can walk through the corridor to the Times Square station at Broadway/7th Avenue (they cross at around 42nd Street).

If you get the F, take it to 42nd Street/Bryant Park. Exit there, and you're at 6th Avenue. Just walk one block west to Broadway and 7th Avenue.

You can enter in your trip at:
http://maps.google.com - and choose to get directions for public transportation.
http://tripplanner.mta.info also works very well. In fact, this is probably the best way, because Google still has to work on a couple of features to make theirs a bit better.

Keep in mind, Google Maps or MTA Trip Planner won't list every option. You might be near ten different bus lines, and most of them might work, but they'll just pick the one that comes at the time closest to when you're going. Still, if you know that a bus will get you to the subway, just take it, even if it's not the one your directions gave you.

The major bus route through Queens Village is the Q43, which will take you to the F train at 179th Street, or the E train if you stay on it to Sutphin Boulevard/Jamaica LIRR station. Again, either train works.

What to wear for a job interview at Toys R Us?
Q. I have a job interview tomorrow at Toys R Us. What should I wear? How should I wear my hair?

If you've worked there before, what kind of questions do they ask at the interview?

It's a group interview, what can I do to stand out?

I want this to go well because I've been needing a job for so long. I don't want to blow this. Please help, thanks so much!

A. I'm so tempted to answer your question by; go dressed a giant teddy bear!

That's not going to help you though. So... wear a smart outfit that says you are a serious business person and can close a sale (doesn't matter if it is toys r us or mansions in the sky r us) you still have to sell. You can be fun on the shop floor but it is all business in the boardroom.

But be appropriate to the company you are interviewing for, so wear maybe a fun pin, flower, badge etc on your suit. A fun clip in your hair. You could put your hair up in an "up do" but add a few subtle glitter clips to show off your fun side.

Standing out - show them that you can take a family situation and talk to the parents while also being sweet to the kid's ie "Hey kids, I have to talk to mum and dad for a min can you look at (nearest toy) and tell me which would be best value for money/colour/fun? the list is in your imagination"

Toys R Us are like every other big company - they want people who can sell. So sell yourself my dear! Believe when you walk through that door that Toys R Us need YOU more than you need them!

All the very best of luck tomorrow!

What is the cheapest place to buy school supplies for a second grader?
Q. I have a second grader and he needs the typical second grader stuff for school. I have tried to prices stuff online and it does not have the price, most of the time it just shows "in store only". Anyways, close to my home is a Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Khols, Sears, JCPenneys and a few others. Please help me decide on the cheapest way to go. Thanks a million in advance.

A. I think quality should come before price. If you're opting for quality, which isn't as essential for a second grader as it would be for a middle schooler or high schooler, I'd go with Staples. Their brand binders are plastic tear free and last the entire school year. It may be more economic than a cheaper price because it won't have to be replaced part-way through the year like other binders will. It all adds up in the end and if you're willing to pay more now you'll save in the long run. However, if you're going for initial price, which may be the smarter option for a second grader, I'd definitely go to Walmart or Target, they're notorious for the best prices.
