Is Black Friday when black people go on sale? Because I think that's terrible.?

Q. People should not be for sale.

A. Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day, most major retailers open extremely early, often at 4 a.m., or earlier, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season, similar to Boxing Day sales in many British Commonwealth countries. Black Friday is not actually a holiday, but many non-retail employers give their employees the day off, increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005,[1] although news reports, which at that time were inaccurate,[2] have described it as the busiest shopping day of the year for a much longer period of time.[3]

The day's name originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving.[4] Use of the term started before 1966 and began to see broader use outside Philadelphia around 1975. Later an alternative explanation began to be offered: that "Black Friday" indicates the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or are "in the black".[5]

For many years, it was common for retailers to open at 6:00, but in the late 2000s, many had crept to 5:00 or even 4:00. This was taken to a new extreme in 2011, when several retailers (including Target, Kohls, Macy's, Best Buy, and Bealls) opened at midnight for the first time. An online petition with more than 200,000 virtual signatures is aimed at asking Target not to open so early.[6] Walmart opened at 10:00 pm on Thanksgiving and Toys 'R' Us at 9:00 pm. In 2010, Sears was open on Thanksgiving day.

Because Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, the day after occurs between the 23rd and the 29th of November.

iPod Touch 4g 8gb @ Walmart on Black Friday 2010?
Q. So I'm planning to go for this deal... However I'm kinda skeptic about my chances of actually getting one (I'm sure they sell quickly). Walmart stores open at 12 midnight now, but apparently you can't really buy the Black Friday electronic deals until 5am? How am I supposed to wait in line for that o___o I'm just thinking about what time I should head out to Walmart, also do I just stand in front of the case or something until 5am? o__O

Any suggestions? I could be over thinking this xD
I sleep a lot, and I usually find Black Friday fun o___o even if I come out with little things xD my family/friends make it fun

A. well, you might get better luck with walmart since there are tons of walmarts out there lol. The ipod touch 8gb is on sale on Amazon right now for $200.

Walmart: $225 + $20 (tax) = $245 - $50 (gift card) = $195
Amazon: $200

You pay a little more on Amazon, but they ship it right to your door, and you can sleep in on black friday :). Also I think toys r us have the same deal on black friday.

Good luck

Ipod 32gb or 8gb? Please read!?
Q. Im getting an ipod touch. 8gb is 200 but the 32gb is 300 but 4x the space. But if I get the 8gb I can get alot of itunes credit where as the 32gb I get little if any. Also are there any jailbreaking sites for the 5th generation. Please help.

A. The price for an iPod Touch 8GB on Black Friday will vary around $195-199, but the following places will include a gift card --

Best Buy -- $194.99, which includes a $50 Best Buy gift card
Radio Shack -- $199.99, which includes a $30 Radio Shack gift card
Target -- $195.00, which includes a $40 Target gift card
Toys R Us -- $199.99, which includes a $50 Toys R Us gift card

It appears that Toys R Us will be offering the 32GB version for $299, which will include a $50 gift card. If you're interested in this deal, it appears that Toys R Us will start their Black Friday sale at 9PM on Thanksgiving, but you should double check this (and get to the store several hours before) -- http://www.blackfriday.info/sales/toysrus-black-friday-ad.html

Not certain what you mean by '5th generation'. The current iPod Touch is STILL the '4th generation' as the hardware was last updated in September 2010, with the 'update' only being a white color option, some minor internal changes and iOS 5.

If you're interested in the latest 3d games, I'd wait for the iPod Touch 5th generation (with A5, or hopefully A6) -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL7p2P6Ft3Y

The iPod Touch 4th generation (with A4) is still very good --

It may just come down to how you plan to use the device.

Should I get an iPad 2 or iPod Touch 5th Gen?
Q. I can get both but:

I listen to a lot of music and I want something portable so I can listen to music and surf the web when i'm on the go and I will listen to music on the iPad while surfing the web when i'm at home.

I play a lot of games, especially when i'm on the go and I will always have my iPod with me because I listen to a lot of music and I will carry my iPad with me when i'm going somewhere like to my mom's office or by a friend etc.

I'm gonna read a few e-books

and i'm also gonna show off

I'm 13
@ Profound: yeah

A. If Apple had upgraded the iPod Touch to include the A5, I'd suggest that, but since it didn't I'd get the iPad 2, since it will have a longer product life, but if you're thinking about that I'd wait until the iPad 3 comes out with hardware upgrades in Spring 2012.

At the moment there isn't a 5th generation iPod Touch. The current iPod Touch (4th generation that was originally released in September 2010), was slightly modified in October 2011 to include a white color option, iOS 5 and some minor hardware changes, but still uses the A4 processor. Why Apple decided against upgrading to an A5 seems like a huge mistake, since it could help erode dedicated portable game systems like the Nintendo DS and Playstation PSP or Vita. Perhaps they needed all the A5 processors for the iPhone 4S.

Here are some GPU performance comparisons between the A4 and A5

I imagine the next iPod Touch will (hopefully) include a larger screen and bypass the A5 and include the forthcoming A6 processor, but it will probably be a quad-core ARM Cortex A9/PowerVR SGX543MP4 that will be used in the Sony Playstation Vita. Another possible option is a dual-core ARM Cortex A15/PowerVR SGX600, which will be faster than the quad-core ARM Cortex A9 and use less power, but that probably won't be available until late 2012, early 2013.

Hopefully Apple doesn't use the A5 given the continual improvement in processors.

The PowerVR SGX600 series (Rogue) supposedly will be 20x faster in graphics performance --

If you're not into graphically intensive games, the iPod Touch 4th edition might suit your needs. It already plays 'Infinity Blade', but if you want something that isn't already over a year old, you might want to wait (as bad as that sounds).

Here are Black Friday sale prices for the iPod Touch 8GB (4th generation).
