I want to take my valentine to NYC for the day, but I'm not from the city and need suggestions on what to d?
Q. I'm 18, he's 19, we like indie music and the surrounding genres, but there aren't any good concerts that I know of. Obviously we're in college so we're somewhat tight on cash. I'd really like specific locations if you have any. Thanks!
A. New York City was my favorite place to go when I lived in CT, First thing you do is buy and all day bus/subway pass they were under $10 the last time I bought one. Should still be cheap compared to other transportation costs.. It's been a while (5 years) since I've been to New York City but I think you get them at the train stations or in drug stores. Ask when you get there. Subways are faster, with buses you can ask the driver where things are. There are booths in the Times Square area (I think) that sell 1/2 price tickets to Broadway shows that probably have music venues also. Times Square is also the home to the largest Toys R Us store in the country with an indoor Ferris Wheel it's a fun free thing to do. Don't know what state you are in but I recommend going in by public transportation (train or bus) Parking in New York is very expensive.
Look for Restaurants with Indie foods (on line) and check to see if they have entertainment. Shows and music aside you have to go visit Lady Liberty and the Empire State Building for lifetime memory pictures. I loved the Museum of Natural History too but they are on opposite sides of the city. The museum is very close to Central Park ... another freebie unless to take a carriage ride. Use your music, shows or Radio City venues for resting up. If it is still cold you can rent ice skates at Rockefeller Center too, it's very close to Radio City, Again those lifetime memories.
One day in the city is never enough. Don't know how close you and boyfriend are but if you go on line you can find hotels for $100 sometimes less and they may offer $25 a day parking.
Have a wonderful time. I'm in Hawaii now but I STILL LOVE NEW YORK.

10 best things to do while in New York City?
Q. I am taking my wife on our second honeymoon to NYC, I have been there many times on business but this is the first time on pleasure. She is a city person and chose NYC above Hawaii (go figure!).
I want to show her a good time but at a budget of course.
Advise ? :)
